An online degree in economics from the University of the Philippines in Manila, Philippines, would cost about $4,500, according to the university’s website.
The $1,854 online degree was offered to the Ph.
D. candidate who completed a program at the Philippine State University in Manila and completed a master’s degree in economic analysis from the National University of Singapore, the university said in a statement.
S. candidate will be eligible for the student loan payment, according a statement posted by the university.
The Philippine government’s National Bureau of Economic Research estimated that the graduate degree in the economic analysis program costs about $1 million per year.
The program also requires a minimum of four years of study, the agency said.
The Philippines has one of the highest concentrations of doctoral degree graduates in the world, with more than 7,000 PhD graduates in finance, business, education and health fields, according the International Monetary Fund.
In 2018, the Philippines was ranked as the third-most corrupt country in the World, according an index compiled by Transparency International.
